Join us for our Garden Open Day at Orroland, when we open our private estate for a relaxed day of exploring. You are free to wander through the gardens and wider grounds at your own pace. Follow woodland paths, enjoy views across the loch, and walk down towards the shoreline. Homemade teas and cakes will be served in the walled garden. Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning to Orroland, it is a lovely way to experience the estate and support local good causes.

We are proud to support the Kirkcudbright Red Squirrel Group, helping protect one of Scotland’s most loved native species. Their work supports local woodland and helps safeguard red squirrels for the future. You may spot them during your stay, moving quietly through the trees — a special part of the wildlife that makes time at Orroland feel so connected to nature.

We believe supporting the local economy is part of caring for the place we call home. By working with local suppliers, tradespeople and services, we help sustain the community around our private coastal estate. During your stay, you are part of that connection — helping support small businesses across Dumfries and Galloway as you explore and enjoy the area.

Following storm damage, we have carefully replanted areas of woodland across the estate. By introducing native species, we are supporting wildlife while helping the landscape recover naturally. This work is part of our long-term approach to caring for the estate, ensuring it remains a peaceful place for you to explore and enjoy.

We have introduced handcrafted nesting boxes across the estate to support local wildlife. These provide safe spaces where birds and small mammals can shelter and raise their young. By adding these simple features, we help replace natural nesting sites that can be limited in managed landscapes, supporting a wider range of species. During your stay, you may notice these boxes along your walks — a quiet part of how we care for wildlife across the estate.
