We are proud to support the Kirkcudbright Red Squirrel Group, helping protect one of Scotland’s most loved native species. Their work supports local woodland and helps safeguard red squirrels for the future. You may spot them during your stay, moving quietly through the trees — a special part of the wildlife that makes time at Orroland feel so connected to nature.

We have introduced handcrafted nesting boxes across the estate to support local wildlife. These provide safe spaces where birds and small mammals can shelter and raise their young. By adding these simple features, we help replace natural nesting sites that can be limited in managed landscapes, supporting a wider range of species. During your stay, you may notice these boxes along your walks — a quiet part of how we care for wildlife across the estate.
