Why Abbotsway Cottage?

The first thing you'll notice about Abbotsway is the space (or maybe the home-made cake on the kitchen table). With roomy accommodation all on one level and in two separate wings there is plenty of scope for teenagers to escape from their parents and vice versa. Here you can always find a place to relax and enjoy your surroundings.

Abbotsway Cottage is located up its own drive off the main Orroland drive and is set in its own grounds at the head of an unspoiled wooded valley. Your only neighbours are cattle and sheep enjoying the grazing in the fields opposite the cottage so you have the freedom to be yourselves without being overlooked or worrying about disturbing other people. There is always an excellent chance of seeing a wide range of wildlife and birds. The seashore is a lovely walk away - about 20 minutes - and you can drive part of the way.

This holiday cottage is particularly peaceful and private with an excellent games room making it a popular choice with families.

Cottage details

Abbotsway Cottage is a single storey stone-built cottage with its own out-buildings set around a fully enclosed courtyard which provides safe freedom for dogs and children. It's attractive garden has flower beds and lawns looking out over grass fields to woodland beyond. There is sturdy garden furniture and a BBQ.

You enter the cottage from the courtyard. A practical utility room serves as a laundry, dog room and cloakroom. Through here is the modern farmhouse-style kitchen with a table seating 8, generous food storage and, of course, a dishwasher. Next door is the spacious sitting room, with a large bay window ideal for watching wildlife and a wood burning stove for which we supply you with unlimited logs.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are in two separate wings, making the cottage particularly well suited to families holidaying with grandparents and children or where there are two couples holidaying together. On one side is a double bedroom (5ft bed) and single bedroom with bathroom next door. On the other side is the family room sleeping three people in single beds, with shower room adjacent.

The games room is accessed via a separate entrance in the courtyard, with a pool table and table tennis providing hours of entertainment for all ages.

General information

The cottage prices include bed linen and towels, electricity, heating oil and logs for the wood burner. You are welcome to arrive from 4pm and we ask you to depart by 10am. Guests staying for two weeks receive a housekeeping visit mid-stay along with fresh bed linen and towels.

* Orroland is in a rural location and our broadband isn't super-fast.  Expect download speeds of 2-3Mbps.

Have had another wonderful stay at Abbotsway cottage. As usual a warm welcome from Fiona and a helpful hand from Bob. The cottage was so warm and cosy in the Autumnal weather. Great for watching the varied wildlife from the window and filling the bird feeder watching the many different birds. This time Fiona I saw a red squirrle!! We welcomed friends for a few days and they loved Orroland. We will be back next year. Liz

Abbotsway cottage provides the idyllic retreat. If you are looking to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everday life then ORROLAND estate and all that is great is the place to go. The wildlife and the walks are fantastic. The cottage itself has everything you need. It's doggie heaven too. I have no hesitation in recommending Abbotsway Cottage and Orroland Estate. 5 stars.

Everything was great, from the very warm welcome and lemon drizzle cake, to the location, stunning grounds, to the lovely and well equipped cottage - even a toy cupboard stuffed with stuff for the kids. We had mixed weather but there is so much to do for families within 15-30 mins, it was never a problem - lots of options for the beach on the dry/sunny days and indoor play stuff on wet days. WiFi is a bit weak, which meant streaming tv wasn’t possible, but that isn’t a hardship when there is so much to get out and do. A gem.

Great cottage, very well equipped etc. The beauty is the location. Such peace and tranquilly, with a gorgeous walk down to a deserted sea shore. Fauna and flora in abundance. A restorative experience.
