Why Abbotsway Cottage?
The first thing you'll notice about Abbotsway is the space (or maybe the home-made cake on the kitchen table). With roomy accommodation all on one level and in two separate wings there is plenty of scope for teenagers to escape from their parents and vice versa. Here you can always find a place to relax and enjoy your surroundings.
Abbotsway Cottage is located up its own drive off the main Orroland drive and is set in its own grounds at the head of an unspoiled wooded valley. Your only neighbours are cattle and sheep enjoying the grazing in the fields opposite the cottage so you have the freedom to be yourselves without being overlooked or worrying about disturbing other people. There is always an excellent chance of seeing a wide range of wildlife and birds. The seashore is a lovely walk away - about 20 minutes - and you can drive part of the way.
This holiday cottage is particularly peaceful and private with an excellent games room making it a popular choice with families.
Cottage details
Abbotsway Cottage is a single storey stone-built cottage with its own out-buildings set around a fully enclosed courtyard which provides safe freedom for dogs and children. It's attractive garden has flower beds and lawns looking out over grass fields to woodland beyond. There is sturdy garden furniture and a BBQ.
You enter the cottage from the courtyard. A practical utility room serves as a laundry, dog room and cloakroom. Through here is the modern farmhouse-style kitchen with a table seating 8, generous food storage and, of course, a dishwasher. Next door is the spacious sitting room, with a large bay window ideal for watching wildlife and a wood burning stove for which we supply you with unlimited logs.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are in two separate wings, making the cottage particularly well suited to families holidaying with grandparents and children or where there are two couples holidaying together. On one side is a double bedroom (5ft bed) and single bedroom with bathroom next door. On the other side is a twin bedroom with two single beds, with shower room adjacent.
The games room is accessed via a separate entrance in the courtyard, with a pool table and table tennis providing hours of entertainment for all ages.

Information for
“Happy return”

Our third stay in this cottage - obviously we like it! This is a very accessible part of Scotland for English people and Orroland is ideally placed for short, relaxing breaks. A very rural location only a short walk (downhill) to the sea with plenty to do in the area (you will need a car). Very spacious for two people (five would have no problems fitting in) and comfortably/pleasantly furnished with all the kit we needed. Fiona and Bob look after guests extremely well without being in the least bit intrusive: very agreeable hosts. Genuinely recommended - we will certainly be back for further visits.
“Great break away”

Booked this break very last minute, but had an amazing holiday! Arriving at the cottage, the location is perfect. We settled straight in, plenty of space and everything carefully thought out- we weren't left wanting for any equipment in the cottage! Loved sitting on the window bench watching the birds and rabbits outside. Plenty of space for our dog Dusty to relax in the cottage, and plenty of space to roam outside it! Our 9 year old daughter LOVED games room, music on through the TV and ping pong till she dropped! So much to explore in Orroland itself, and plenty nearby if you wanted it too. Finally, we were apprehensive about staying away during COVID19, but we were so impressed by the approach to keeping us safe- the cleaning is spotless and so comprehensive, we had no worries at all. We've already booked to come back!
“Short October Break”

We had a rescheduled Easter holiday in October at Abbotsway Cottage. We loved the secluded location and courtyard design of the house. The kids made best use of the heated games room and the living spaces were large and comfortable. The proximity to the beach is great and the car parks make it easier to access. We even managed 2 BBQ's in the space of 4 days.
“Relaxing break”
“our stay in bonny Scotland”

we enjoyed our stay in a lovely location in a very well equipped cottage. The wood burner was a added bonus as after a nice day sight seeing it was nice to put our feet up in front of a warm crackling fire and read a book or watch television. Our hosts thought of every thing and we received a warm welcome on arrival. I would definitely recommend it to others
