Why Abbotsway Cottage?
The first thing you'll notice about Abbotsway is the space (or maybe the home-made cake on the kitchen table). With roomy accommodation all on one level and in two separate wings there is plenty of scope for teenagers to escape from their parents and vice versa. Here you can always find a place to relax and enjoy your surroundings.
Abbotsway Cottage is located up its own drive off the main Orroland drive and is set in its own grounds at the head of an unspoiled wooded valley. Your only neighbours are cattle and sheep enjoying the grazing in the fields opposite the cottage so you have the freedom to be yourselves without being overlooked or worrying about disturbing other people. There is always an excellent chance of seeing a wide range of wildlife and birds. The seashore is a lovely walk away - about 20 minutes - and you can drive part of the way.
This holiday cottage is particularly peaceful and private with an excellent games room making it a popular choice with families.
Abbotsway Cottage is a single storey stone-built cottage with its own out-buildings set around a fully enclosed courtyard which provides safe freedom for dogs and children. It's attractive garden has flower beds and lawns looking out over grass fields to woodland beyond. There is sturdy garden furniture and a BBQ.
You enter the cottage from the courtyard. A practical utility room serves as a laundry, dog room and cloakroom. Through here is the modern farmhouse-style kitchen with a table seating 8, generous food storage and, of course, a dishwasher. Next door is the spacious sitting room, with a large bay window ideal for watching wildlife and a wood burning stove for which we supply you with unlimited logs.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are in two separate wings, making the cottage particularly well suited to families holidaying with grandparents and children or where there are two couples holidaying together. On one side is a double bedroom (5ft bed) and single bedroom with bathroom next door. On the other side is the family room sleeping four in twin beds and bunks, with shower room adjacent.
The games room is accessed via a separate entrance in the courtyard, with a pool table and table tennis providing hours of entertainment for all ages.
The cottage prices include bed linen and towels, electricity, heating oil and logs for the wood burner. You are welcome to arrive from 4pm and we ask you to depart by 10am. Guests staying for two weeks receive a housekeeping visit mid-stay along with fresh bed linen and towels.

“Wonderful short break”
We had a wonderful long weekend at Abbotsway. The cottage was just right for our family and the surrounding Orroland Estate was stunning (we were blessed with great weather to enjoy it - and the games room was ideal for the one time it did rain). We will definitely return - our only dilemma will be whether to book this cottage or one of the others at Orroland.
We stayed for two weeks in Oct and could not have wished for a nicer place to stay, quiet, relaxing and loads of wildlife. This is is the first time we have stayed in this part of scotland. The local people were friendly and we and the dogs enjoyed this restful place with its fine views and beautiful starscapes. We will be back thank you.
“Returning time after time to a magical property and surroundings”
Stunning scenery, a quiet retreat, a central base for day tripping, lovely cakes, excellent accommodation in every way thinkable, a haven for escapism with our beautiful 3 Chow Chows, then Orroland is actually the best place not only in the UK but worldwide, which meets all our fussy needs. We come as often as is physically possible and there is always something new to discover. The owners and staff are lovely, astute, approachable and their hospitality is second to none. They keep their distance to allow you privacy, yet are always on call if you ever need anything and they always listen. How good is all that in our busy lifestyles in this manic world we all live in!!! And every time we visit the sun always shines! We are now trying to compete with those visitors who have visited more frequently than ourselves for the Number 1 spot, and a badge ha ha!!!
