Why Abbotsway Cottage?
The first thing you'll notice about Abbotsway is the space (or maybe the home-made cake on the kitchen table). With roomy accommodation all on one level and in two separate wings there is plenty of scope for teenagers to escape from their parents and vice versa. Here you can always find a place to relax and enjoy your surroundings.
Abbotsway Cottage is located up its own drive off the main Orroland drive and is set in its own grounds at the head of an unspoiled wooded valley. Your only neighbours are cattle and sheep enjoying the grazing in the fields opposite the cottage so you have the freedom to be yourselves without being overlooked or worrying about disturbing other people. There is always an excellent chance of seeing a wide range of wildlife and birds. The seashore is a lovely walk away - about 20 minutes - and you can drive part of the way.
This holiday cottage is particularly peaceful and private with an excellent games room making it a popular choice with families.
Abbotsway Cottage is a single storey stone-built cottage with its own out-buildings set around a fully enclosed courtyard which provides safe freedom for dogs and children. It's attractive garden has flower beds and lawns looking out over grass fields to woodland beyond. There is sturdy garden furniture and a BBQ.
You enter the cottage from the courtyard. A practical utility room serves as a laundry, dog room and cloakroom. Through here is the modern farmhouse-style kitchen with a table seating 8, generous food storage and, of course, a dishwasher. Next door is the spacious sitting room, with a large bay window ideal for watching wildlife and a wood burning stove for which we supply you with unlimited logs.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are in two separate wings, making the cottage particularly well suited to families holidaying with grandparents and children or where there are two couples holidaying together. On one side is a double bedroom (5ft bed) and single bedroom with bathroom next door. On the other side is the family room sleeping four in twin beds and bunks, with shower room adjacent.
The games room is accessed via a separate entrance in the courtyard, with a pool table and table tennis providing hours of entertainment for all ages.
The cottage prices include bed linen and towels, electricity, heating oil and logs for the wood burner. You are welcome to arrive from 4pm and we ask you to depart by 10am. Guests staying for two weeks receive a housekeeping visit mid-stay along with fresh bed linen and towels.
This was our first visit to Orroland. Two couples with two dogs. What a fantastic cottage in beautiful grounds. Fiona and Bob could not do enough for us even thought we were not demanding of their time. The facilities at the cottage were excellent. The perfect accommodation for a week away from it all.
“Perfect dog friendly cottage”
The first time we have taken all three dogs away with us and it couldnt have been better. The cottage is perfect and the whole weekend has been very relaxing for us all. Weather has been lovely even though the forecast was for rain, rain, rain. Only wish our stay was longer, Im sure well be back!
“Super pet friendly accommodation.”
We were two adult couples sharing the accommodation so to have the two bathrooms was really great. The enclosed courtyard was ideal for the dogs, lots of places to explore and have fun in. The cottage was equipped to a high standard, the beds were very comfortable, there was always plenty of hot water and the cottage was always warm. Tea and a lovely home-made cake was left out on the table for our arrival. There were lots of locals guides, restaurant menus and local o.s. maps for us to use plus Melinda and Fiona were about to ask for good walks and lovely beaches to visit with the dogs.
“Excellent stay at Abbotsway”
Had a lovely stay at this well maintained and clean cottage, excellent facilities, beautifully furnished and In a lovely quiet peaceful and secluded setting. Pleasant walks down to the beach and round the Loch. It was an excellent choice to stay with our dogs as there was a practical utility room and outdoor kennel, plus a properly enclosed courtyard which made cleaning and drying easy. There was a delicious homemade cake and tea was set out for our arrival, Melinda was very welcoming and gave excellent advice about local eateries, shopping and walks. The area has some unspoilt towns with good shopping choices, and so many walks that it was difficult to choose which to do first. Thank you for our great holiday, we would love to return sometime.
