Orroland, 9 miles east of Kirkcudbright, is a wedding venue specialising in small intimate wedding ceremonies and celebrations for up to 30 guests. Orroland Lodge has a dramatic cliff-top position, spacious and elegant rooms, and high standards of comfort and convenience making it a stand-out wedding venue. It is remarkable for its striking coastal surroundings and landscaping that will provide an inspiring backdrop to your wedding day. Your favourite people, carefully laid plans, personal touches and memories … one of which will be the magical sound of the sea.
On a practical level, Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway is a very good central point for bringing together your wedding guests from around the UK and overseas. Orroland is just an hour through Dumfries and Galloway countryside from the M74 motorway that connects England and Scotland.
By booking the two cottages in addition to Orroland Lodge you can house 27 guests at Orroland, all of whom can dine comfortably together in the dining room at Orroland Lodge.
For larger parties, up to 30 guests, there are many good B&Bs in Auchencairn within 10 minutes of Orroland and also in the historic harbour town of Kirkcudbright, just 15 minutes away.
Our wedding was beautiful and the views from the gardens made a great setting for the photographs. Everything has been perfect.

For the wedding itself, you can have a religious, civil or humanist ceremony at Orroland. Orroland is approved as a civil wedding venue by Dumfries & Galloway Council. Most couples and their friends and family really love not having to drive between the ceremony and the celebration.
If you would like your wedding ceremony outwith Orroland there are several options nearby. Threave House and Gardens, near Castle Douglas (12 miles), offers a variety of wedding options and the gardens are glorious in all seasons. Broughton House in Kirkcudbright (9 miles) is a beautiful venue for an intimate wedding. Historic Scotland manage weddings at local historical attractions Sweetheart Abbey (23 miles) and Caerlaverock Castle (29 miles).
You could be married in a Church or in a local registry office at Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas or Dalbeattie.
Gretna Green, the world's most romanticised wedding location, is only an hour's drive from Orroland.

Catering arrangements at Orroland
For your wedding reception the dining room at Orroland Lodge comfortably seats thirty guests at tables with space clear for waiting staff.
We work closely with Caterbirds, an excellent local catering company providing delicious food at keen prices. Catering arrangements for your wedding reception - drinks with canapés, hot or cold buffet, sit down lunch or dinner each with waiting staff are all in good hands! Their flexible and personal approach ensures there is a solution for all sizes of party and budget. They can also deliver homemade ready-cooked meals direct to your holiday door so all you have to do is heat it up. Great food by phone, such a treat!
A cook can normally be arranged. We are fortunate to have a talented friend, Evie Watson, who cooks professionally. If you can get her, Evie is a great choice.
Everything has been perfect. Orroland Lodge is a wonderful setting for a wedding party. We don't want to go home.
Honeymoon in Scotland
The two cottages at Orroland - Cutlar's Lodge and Abbotsway Cottage - are both ideal for a romantic honeymoon. When you come through the gates of Orroland, you feel totally secluded from the outside world yet the nearby towns of Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas are just 15-20 minutes away by car and Dumfries & Galloway is there to be explored.
